RESOURCES: How are you creating these climate action plans?

The three-city, two-year grant to fund the creation of the climate actions plans is happening through a public planning process. We’ll keep you up to date below by posting resources from past community events, news on upcoming forums and other relevant resources.   1. Southgate Planning Commission Presentation August 13

    On August 13, 2012, the Southgate Climate Action Plan was presented to the Southgate Planning Commission. The Planning Commission passed a resolution in support of the plan. Attached, please find the document that they reviewed.   5. Promotional Materials: Hazel Park Community Meeting June 11

    We have an official draft of the Ypsilanti Climate Action Plan! It's attached for your review. Note that this draft is current as of May 10, and changes are being made internally right up until a final draft is approved by Ypsilanti City Council.

    On Wednesday, June 20, from 6:00-7:00 pm, you're invited to give public comment in advance of the Planning Commission's formal review of the Ypsilanti Climate Action Plan. At their regular meeting from 7:00-9:00 pm, the Planning Commission will review the plan, and there will be a small period for public comment.

  10. Hazel Park Proposed Goals & Strategies [Updated]

    Attached below is the master list of community goal and strategy ideas submitted in Hazel Park. These have been proposed by citizens at community meetings, online and through best practices research.

    Do not take these ideas as final! These are living documents--we're still in the brainstorming phase, and everything is open to debate! Feel free to also review and steal from other communities' goals and strategies documents, which can be found in an earlier post.

  12. Ypsilanti Community Meeting Notes

    The Ypsilanti climate plan team held two smaller community meetings at the request of local stakeholders. The first was in conjunction with Eastern Michigan University's Activism and Education Conference, and the second was a joint meeting of the College Heights and Normal Park Neighborhood Associations. Notes from both sessions are attached.

  14. Promotional Materials: Hazel Park Meeting Monday, March 26

    You're invited to the next Climate Action Plan community forum! It will be held Thursday, March 22, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the Hazel Park Community Center. The format will be slightly different this time: we'll give a shorter overview of the process and then we'll move into an open house format. Attendees will be able to move between tables focused on different climate action strategy areas, sharing their ideas for community-level goals and strategies.

  16. Community Goals & Strategies, as of 2-13-12

    Attached are the master lists of all the communities' submitted goals and strategies, as of February 13, 2012. These are ideas that have been submitted at community meetings or online, except for the strategies marked as being from the strategy library. These were ideas we explored before starting community outreach as possible strategies that have worked elsewhere.

    Do not take these ideas as final! These are living documents--we're still in the brainstorming phase, and everything is open to debate! And feel free to look at other communities' documents. We're going through this process together, so idea-stealing is encouraged.
